Bosch series 6 dishwasher Efficient Dry automatic door release not working and what to do about it.

I moved to my new home on the 1st of November 2025 and I am thrilled to have a dish washer for the first time! I know i know, I have been washing dishes by hand all this while until 2 months ago! The Efficient Dry is a feature where the appliance door automatically opens at the end of the cycle during the drying phase.  This function worked great until about 6 weeks where I noticed that the door is released but not cracked open fully (about 2 inches). These are the steps that I did which solved the issue.

1. Wipe down the rubber seals on the sides with a degreaser spray.

I noticed a sticky residue build up along the rubber seals. The degreaser spray worked well. Tip: Leave the dishwasher door slightly open during the day to allow the rubber seals to dry.

2. Spray WD40 on the door hinges.

This in my opinion is what actually fixed the problem. I sprayed a small amount of WD 40 on the hinges and gave it a good wipe. I have the Door Opening activated so the appliance door  opens by pressing on the upper middle section of the door. After spraying WD40 the door was releasing but not opening to the 2 inch gap it was suppose to. But to my surprise the next morning the door was cracked open and the dishes were dry! It is still working 1 week on.

So if you have this problem, give it a try and let me know if it worked for you 🙂
